The idea to create the Annafabuli Shadow Theater came from Anna-Maria Schlemmer in 1999, when she read the biography of German animation director Lotte Reiniger, who gained worldwide fame thanks to her silhouette films.

Anna-Maria Schlemmer mastered the art of paper cutting as a child under her mother's guidance. She now creates shadow puppets of her own design for her performances. The Annafabuli Shadow Theater's repertoire includes more than 40 performances for children and adults, which have been successfully shown in 16 countries: Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Lithuania, Netherlands, Denmark, Canada, Ecuador, Chile, Cambodia, etc. Anna-Maria Schlemmer won the "Best Graphic Animation" award at the World Puppet Carnival in Bangkok.
