In the 20s and 30s it was very common in Spain to sell daughters in marriage to wealthy landowners. The plot of “El Retablillo de Don Cristóbal” tells us about Dona Rosita's mother who has no qualms about marrying her daughter off to a green and grumpy old man Don Cristóbal who drinks the winds for the pretty girl.

Teatro Los Claveles tried to recover the flavor of the old road puppeteers by tempering this adaptation with the aesthetics and intention of the time.

Paca García and Aniceto Roca, founders of Teatro Los Claveles, began their journey in the field of puppetry with the company La Bicicleta, standing out for their creativity and innovation. Over the years, they developed iconic productions such as "Retablillo de Don Cristóbal," with scenography by Picasso and García Lorca, taking their shows on international tours. The company has always sought new forms of expression, exploring different cultures and traditions, as seen in the production "Muza," based on the wars between Moors and Christians. This combination of tradition and experimentation has made the company a reference in puppet theater.

Teatro Los Claveles expanded its performances to both children's and adult theater, bringing shows that enchant and provoke thought. Among their most notable productions are "Caperucita Roja" (Little Red Riding Hood) and "Tulugak, an Inuit tale," which showcase their versatility and commitment to creating stories that resonate with audiences of all ages. García and Roca's work is marked by a deep connection to universal themes and an artistic approach that promotes both entertainment and education, continually captivating audiences around the world.
